Ted Klum London Model hard rubber Alto was designed based on several vintage Berg Larson Altos including Jackie McLean’s which he played throughout the 1980s! It is the brightest and most powerful of our hard rubber alto pieces while retaining warmth throughout the range and not thinning out in the upper register. This product was finalized after months of Prototypes and extensive testing and is currently available in sizes 6,7,8,9 as well as custom sizes upon request.

Note: fulfillment time for any of our mouthpieces may take up to 4-6 weeks.

Back on alto sax after 15 years. I've played Ted's London Precision (rhodium) on tenor for that same amount of time and have never considered anything else. I know exactly what is coming out of the horn and do not have to worry about vagaries of using multiple mouthpieces. This one does it all.
Took a minute to dial in a sound that felt right on alto. That's to be expected. After trying several pieces, I asked TK to make a New London HR alto piece that would "take air easily." He made a 6 tip that rings my bell! It can take all the air I can give it. It's incredibly flexible for a high baffle piece. It has excellent power but subtones easily and can be very lush. It never gets too bright but it can cut if required. This suits my playing style perfectly.
PS: The Marc Jean ligature is well worth the money and pairs beautifully with this mouthpiece. Highly recommended.
TK is the master. If you do not know his work, you're missing out on an incredible artist's handiwork. Fantastico!

The amount of detail put into this piece is amazing. It plays strong and freely up and down the horn, I wish that I discovered Ted's pieces sooner!

Love this mp for my silver plated 1930 large bore alto! Fat and sassy but with a classic old school sound...exactly what I was looking for!

This is simply the best alto mouthpiece I've ever played on. The core tone is thick with an edge when pushed. It sub-tones with ease and the high end and harmonics remains solid . I love it!

Hi Ted,

Just wanted to say that this mouthpiece is absolutely incredible!! I’ve been searching for quite a while for a mouthpiece that offers plenty of power and cut without losing any richness or warmth. I’m ecstatic to say that my search is over! The new London Model for alto offers a perfect amount of focus and power, ideal for a soloist, all while maintaining the core and richness needed to blend within a section. The end result is a mouthpiece that I can see myself playing in LITERALLY any setting, from straight-ahead jazz to fusion, rock, and beyond! Thanks to all the people at Ted Klum Mouthpieces for making such an amazing product!!

Best,
Alex Upton
