I’m playing on a six New York alto red marble colored mouthpiece. I’m using a 2 1/2 ZZ Vandoren reed. Sound for jacks nicely, has a bit of a punch to it, but is controllable. Definitely requires good air support. Records very well, with colorful overtones and a warm flexible sound that I think could be used in lots of styles of playing, from traditional jazz, like a Cannonball Adderley sound to or a Hank Crawford type of . I also have the seven and that has similar qualities, but requires a bit more effort to play, but it’s very useful in situations where I need to be slightly louder.
